Aga khan iv: Prince Karim Al-Husaini Aga Khan IV, considered a descendant of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, was cremated on Saturday (8 February). He was also the 49th Imam of Shia Ismaili Muslims. His body was kept in Ismaili Center Lisbon. Portugal President Rebello de-Susa and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were also present here for his last darshan.

His coffin was wrapped in a white cloth. There was a gold embroidery on this cloth. His family, the Ismaili community and the leaders of Aga Khan Development Network condensed him. After this, according to the Muslim tradition, the verses of the Holy Quran were read and then the guests paid the last tribute to them one by one.

During this time many international figures were also present there. Senior officials of Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Portugal, Qatar, Spain, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom attended the funeral ceremony. The ceremony was broadcast live in Jamaatkhans of Ismaili community around the world so that people could pay their final tribute to their Imam.

Buried in Mishra
After the ceremony in Portugal, Karim Aga Khan IV was brought to Egypt as an aswan. Here he was buried on Sunday (9 February) in the tomb of his grandfather Sir Sultan Mohammad Shah Aga Khan III. Soon a new tomb will be created as his last resting place. Please tell that Aga Khan IV died on 4 February 2025. He was 88 years old.

Who was Aga Khan IV?
Prince Karim Aga Khan was born on 13 December 1936 in Geneva, Switzerland. His family is considered a descendant of Hazrat Muhammad, Prophet of Islam. He was the eldest son of Prince Ali Khan and grandson of late Sir Sultan Mohammad Shah Aga Khan III. His grandfather, bypassing his son Ali Khan in 1957, chose him as his successor. Prince Karim Aga Khan was just 20 years old. He is also a graduate from Harvard University.

Prince Karim Aga Khan IV emphasized his entire life that Islam is a thoughtful, spiritual religion, which teaches compassion and tolerance. Inspired by these moral principles, she established the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which is working to improve living status and opportunities for people in some of the world’s most poorest, weakest parts. Aga Khan IV has been awarded its highest honor by many countries of the world. The Government of India has also honored him with its second highest civilian award ‘Padma Vibhushan’.
